Oceans Club

The Oceans Club was formed by stu– dents interested in the field of oceanogra– phy. Comprised of Marine Studies and Ocean Science majors and minors and others genuinely interested in the ocean, the Oceans Club goes scuba diving, fish– ing, participates in research, and offers tutoring in oceanography-related courses.

ClubAadvisor Dr. Richard Cassey and club President Pat Earley were interested in helping to promote a sincere interest in the oceans to the larger student popula– tion. The Oceans Club not only offers fun social activities for its members, but it also provides them the opportunity to meet new people.

------------------------------------------- Biology Club

The Biology Club is an organization that is traditionally made up mostly of biology majors and minors. However, membership is open to anyone with an interest in the biological sciences. Many of the activities are directed toward ex– ploring the many aspects of biology. These activities include various speakers at the Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla and periodic whale watching trips. Aside from these "educational " activities, the Biology Club is concerned with bringing the students together outside the class– room through regular social gatherings. By creating a cohesive and comfortable atmosphere in the department, the club hopes to allow members to pursue their respective interests in biology.
