Metaltech & Tubotech 2009

Automated Industrial Machinery (AIM) has introduced another value-added feature to its AccuForm line of CNC wire bending machines. It has been designed for those users who have an organised production system using bar code labels to inventory part numbers. By using a bar code reader the new feature, driven by SmartEditor® (AIM’s programming software), will automatically enter the file name and location of a part from a database. After scanning, the user can enter the number of pieces and boxes (containers) required for a particular production run. Once a list of bar codes has been scanned, Smart Editor® can load all the files/parts that need to be pro- duced at a given time. Up to 50 files can be automatically loaded using this feature. Doug Bidwell of Manufacturing Systems, Inc in Belle Fourche, South Dakota had previously purchased an AccuForm 3D machine. One of the key reasons Doug initially decided to purchase fromAIMwas that he found the programming to be user friendly and easy to learn. When Mr Bidwell asked that it be made easier yet by using a bar code scanner to call up part programs, the response from AIM was to work with Manufacturing Systems to find a solution that met their needs. Doug enthuses, “The scan technology has enabled us to bridge the gap between a programmer and the production crew, now everyone is an AIM machine operator.” AIM Inc – USA Email : sales@aimmachines.com Website : www.aimmachines.com Automation and development are Cometo’s key factors. Since 1983 the company has represented the future at the service of the wire and cable industry. From 6 th – 8 th October this year the Metaltech exhibition will take place at the Imigrantes Exposicões facility in São Paulo, Brazil, the largest city in South America. The fledgling show runs concurrently with Tubotech, the largest and most important pipe and tube exhibition in South America. Once again the IWMA is the major international sponsor of Metaltech and will be exhibiting on a joint booth with sister organisation the International Tube Association (ITA), major international sponsor of Tubotech. Sicetel – National Association for Wire Drawing and Rolling of Ferrous Metals – is the official local sponsor of Metaltech and is fully convinced that the event is the key trade fair for business and technology in the wire sector. The president of Sicetel, Rodrigo de Almeida Prado, states that “for the 2009 edition we shall have as exhibitors important Brazilian and foreign industries from both peripheral sectors as well as the main ones of machinery and equipment, raw materials, lubricants, software and service providers.” Apart from its shared information boothwith the ITA, well equippedwith supportservicesformemberexhibitors and visitors alike, the IWMA is offering its‘Samba’exhibition packages to wire and cable organisations. Most important is the experienced advice that the IWMA can provide to attendees, particularly essential for first time visitors to the exhibition. Metaltech offers free entry to trade visitors and its opening hours are 14:00 to 21:00 hours on each of its three days. For more information about the Metaltech trade fair and the ‘Samba’ exhibitor package please contact the IWMA Secretariat. The exhibition organiser’s website is: www.metaltech.tmp.br
