in these places was defeated by the form; it was absolutely impossible to design for this district an ordinary business centre. Besides, Skuratov saw that project as his mission to re- vive the attractiveness of the district; a cer- tain devious strategy to attract architects and developers. It was the surrounding that became the point of departure of the project, with creative solution becoming its priority. Three volumes with different number of storeys are united by the stylobate which has a secret of its own: its ponderosity is never felt. Totally covered by glass, it seems to continue the river, reflect- ing the sky and trees, refracting reality just as its prototype does. This shimmering support carries a «batch» of thee sculptural volumes, which stand rather firmly on all unsteadiness of the stylobate. The windows, however, do some «dance», and unexpected cantilevers protrude absolutely illogically at first sight, in fact dashing towards each other. The bro- ken rhythm of window apertures of different height and width is not just the artist’s whim. Thereby he highlights the main peculiarity of the building – «depressed» walls which make a delicate curve of the main facade facing the embankment. With all its offbeat details, the building (or conglomeration, it’s hard to say) looks amazingly perfect and harmonious, much due to the public area on the stylobate
