На Ваш взгляд, практика арт-резиденций в России за последние 20 лет наследует хоть в какой-то мере советской практике творческих дач или даже предше- ствующей практике пенсионерских поездок? Или все те центры, фонды и подобные институции современ- ного искусства, поддерживающие арт-резиденции, начинали и начинают свою работу с нуля, создают совершенно новые модели работы художника в связи с географией? Несомненно, второе. Методом заимствования, адап- таций, интуитивных инсайтов участники пост- советской художественной жизни находили арт- резиденции как ситуативно удобную форму или инструмент. При этом мало кто рассматривал сам термин «арт-резиденция». По преимуществу, такие арт-резиденции – предварительные эпизоды для подготовки выста- вок, фестивалей. В этом смысле граница между арт- резиденцией и воркшопом или арт-резиденцией и программой международного сотрудничества

In your opinion, is the practice of art residences in Rus- sia over the last 20 years in any way an heir of the Soviet practice of dachas for creative work or even their anteced- ent—the practice of pensionary trips? Or do all these centers, foundations and similar modern art institutions that support art residences, start their work from scratch, creating entirely new, geographically determined models of artist’s work? Without a doubt, the latter is the case. The partic- ipants of post-Soviet art life, by means of borrow- ing, adaptation and intuitive insights, began to con- sider art residencies a convenient form or instrument. At the same time, few considered the term “art resi- dence” itself. Predominantly, such art residences are preliminary stages of exhibition in festival preparation. In that sense, the borderline between an art residence and a workshop or an art residence and a program of international collaboration in educational and project-creating formats was for a long time a blurry one.
