President's Message

It’s hard to believe I am writing my last newsletter as president of Greystone Golf and Country Club. This year has flown by and I want to thank everyone for your support and words of encouragement during the year. It has truly been an honor to serve our club and I thank all of you for the opportunity. I hope you feel as I do that this has been a great year for our club. Our club management team and staff

The Greystone Thanksgiving Buffet is always well attended, so make your reservations early. A Thanksgiving carryout is also being provided for those who want to dine at home without the hassle. These carryout meals will feed around 10 people and will provide a great option for your family. Our Dickens Dinners will be held on December 22 and 23 and these are always great events and have become family tradition. I know many families attend this each year to get the Christmas holiday off to a great start. I hope to see you there. The Annual Membership Meeting will be November 29 and I hope we have a great turnout to hear a financial update on the club and announce our election results for next year’s board positions. This year we have three board members rolling off - Russ Hale, Jim Clayton and Barry Vines. I want to thank each of them for their service to our club. Their contributions to Greystone’s success is immeasurable and we all are in their debt for the commitment they made to lead our club. It has been my honor to serve with each of them. I also want to thank our 2018 Committee Chairs. Jay Waller (Golf), Janice Folmar (Membership Marketing), Mike McNulty (Sports and Social), Roy Sewell (Membership Engagement) and Jim O’Brien (Regions Tradition). These committees drive most of our events and this has been one of our best years ever based on participation and feedback. Thank you all for your effort. As I close, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. I pray that your families will be blessed this holiday season. I hope to see you all at Greystone during the holidays!

have worked very hard to provide all of our members a great experience when using our facilities. I am pleased to report that everything we accomplished this year has been done while staying focused on finishing the year in a positive or break even position financially. Our third quarter financials will be released shortly that will show we can deliver these results. I attended a meeting of members this week where I heard many comments that the service and quality of the food in the Cellar and Legacy dining room is outstanding. We have had great golf events this year and our golf courses have been in fantastic condition. Our tennis program continues to grow and the tournaments/events held at the tennis facility have been well attended. Our pool complex had great activity all summer and we were able to extend the pool season due to the great weather we had into October. Our fitness center has been busy with the fitness classes and personal training sessions continuing to grow. All of this is made possible by the effort of our dedicated club staff and I want to thank them for all they do everyday to make Greystone a great place. As the holidays begin to slip up on us, our club has many events for our families to enjoy. We have two children’s events coming up, the Paw Patrol Breakfast on November 17 and Santa’s Workshop Breakfast on December 8. These will be fun for our kids and grands, so please make your reservations.
