3.2 The importance of the automotive industry for the Czech economy e Czech automotive sector directly employs 170,000 people (15% of the entire manufacturing industry), contributes 24% of manufacturing industry sales, 17% of value added and 27% of total exports of the Czech Republic. e value added of the domestic automotive industry accounts for approximately 3.5% of the total gross value added of the Czech Republic in 2022. is subchapter describes the automotive industry in the Czech Republic as a whole, i.e. not only from the point of view of manufacturers of nal vehicles, but also their suppliers (manufacturers of parts, equipment, accessories, bodies, trailers and semi-trailers). In the CZ-NACE classi cation of industries, the automotive industry is classi ed as a manufacturing industry in Division 29, which is subdivided into: CZ-NACE 29 Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers : – 29.1 Manufacture of motor vehicles. – 29.2 Manufacture of bodies (coachwork) for motor vehicles; manufacture of trailers and semi-trailers. – 29.3 Manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles. In addition to this section, other sectors of the Czech economy are linked to the automotive industry. Of the other industries, the most important contributors to the motor vehicle manufacturing division in the Czech Republic are rubber and plastic products, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, basic metals and textiles. Of the divisions of the Czech economy, the most dependent on the automotive industry is the manufacture of rubber and plastic products. In this case, 20% of production is directed as intermediate consumption to the domestic production of motor vehicles. A further 38 % of this section goes to exports, where it can be assumed that part of the supplies go back to motor vehicle manufacturers abroad. Other relatively well-
