1983 Alcalá

GOLF The 1983 Golf Team is one of the strongest in USD history. Coach Mike Maher ispleased with the balance and dedication of the team. Returning from last year's teamwhich took second in the WCAC, are Steve Calloway,Tim Barber, Peter Kiley, Bob Lyons, John Tenuta, Mark Wetherspoon, andElliot Wright.Also, the two seniormembers of the team, Greg Anderson, who redshirted last year and Chris Gibbs, who took a leave of absence last spring bring added strength to the team. Rounding out the team are freshmen Tom McKenna, Tim Pola- cek and Jeff Simons. Theteam will play a demanding schedule that includes suchopponents as UCLA, USC, Stanford, BYU, ASU and cross town rival San Diego State. This yearUSD is the host of the Southern Collegiate Invitational held at Torrey Pines. The team is headed toward its first WCAC title.
