Action limits - Proposed philosophy

Step 1: Determine the uncertainty (  ) for the dose measurement, yielding the probability distribution for the true dose .

Error probability = (1-CL)/2 (i.e. 2.5% when CL=95%)

Step 2:

Set a confidence level CL for the true dose, e.g. CL =95%, and determine the corresponding dose interval C  .
