Jerome Pathon enters his first year with the Tore–

ros where he will be the wide receivers coach.

Picked in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft, Pathon played eight seasons with Indianapolis, New Or– leans and Atlanta, finishing his career with 260 receptions for 3,350 yards and 15 touchdowns. In New Orleans, he was involved in the famous "River City Relay" play that won the 2004 ESPY Award for Best Play. Pathon played collegiately at the University of Washington. He had one of the greatest seasons ever for a Washington wideout in 1997, setting records for recep– tions (69) and receiving yards (1,245) while earning first– team All-America honors. He ranks third all -time among

Husky receivers, behind only Reggie Williams and Mario Bailey, with 2,275 career receiving yards. He comes with both coaching and scouting experience. He recently has been working as an assistant to UW Huskies WR Coach Jimmie Dougherty while completing his B.A. degree in Marketing and Advertising. In 2008 he worked with the Indianapolis Colts (scouting internship during training camp) and the BC Lions (scouting intern– ship during training camp). He is the President of Jerome Pathon First & Long Football Camp which helps organize charity events to raise funds for Football British Columbia, and also coordinated various training sessions to promote ongoing develop– ment and goal setting for youth in the Vancouver community.

Mike Rish is beginning his 26th season on the Torero staff where he will again be Senior Offensive As– sistant. He returns to help coach the receivers, something he has done for twenty-four of the past twenty-five Torero seasons. In 2008 the Torero receiving corp accounted for 243 receptions for 2,960 yards and 37 touchdowns. Senior John Matthews earned First Team All -America honors and was a final candidate for the Walter Payton Award. He led all FCS players with 102 receptions for 1,478 yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2007 the Torero receivers accounted for 3,270 yards and 48 touchdown receptions. Junior John Matthews set a new Torero mark with 16 touchdown re– ceptions, while senior Wes Doyle tied the school mark of

73 receptions in a season.

Mike played for USO from 1979-83 where he posted career numbers that make him one of the best receivers ever to play at USO -- he ranks second all-time with 101 receptions, 18 receiving touchdowns and 1,722 receiving yards. He held the school marks in all three career receiving departments from 1983 through 1997; he was passed byTorero receiver Dylan Ching. In 1983 he was selected the team's scholar-athlete by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. In the Toreros' nationally-televised game between Occidental in 1982, Rish was named the CBS Chevrolet Player of the Game. Mike graduated from USO with an Accounting degree in 1984. He is the Senior Vice President for Secondary Marketing for Guild Mortgage Company in San Diego.

Joe Staab joins the Torero staff following his play– ing career with USO the past five seasons.He will be a defen– sive assistant for the Toreros in 2009. The past four years he competed with the defensive unit and special teams unit with San Diego going a com– bined 40-6 during this span. During his senior campaign in 2008 he appeared in ten contests, and in 2007 he played in 11 games with 31 tackles (17 solo stops). From San Diego, Joe prepped at nearby Grossmont High School. He graduated from USO with a Business degree and minor in Accounting.
