○ LI: I am developing my understanding of circles so that I can derive the equation of a circle. ○ SC: I can derive the equation of a circle using the Pythagorean theorem. ● Lesson 9.2: Getting Centered - Solidify Understanding ○ LI: I am solidifying my understanding of circles so that I can find the center and radius of a circle in general form. ○ SC: I can write and graph the equation of a circle. ○ SC: I can find the center and radius of a circle given in general form by completing the square to get the equation in standard form. ● Lesson 9.3: Circle Challenges - Practice Understanding ○ LI: I am practicing my understanding of circles so that I can apply my understanding of circles and their equations to new situations. ○ SC: I can analyze and write the equation of a circle given various information. ● HONORS Lesson 9.4: Directing Our Focus - Develop Understanding ○ LI: I am developing my understanding of parabolas so that I can develop a geometric definition for them. ○ SC: I can demonstrate my understanding that the geometric definition of a parabola is the set of all points that are equidistant from a line, the directrix, and a point not on the line, the focus. ● HONORS Lesson 9.5: Functioning with Parabolas - Solidify Understanding ○ LI: I am solidifying my understanding of parabolas so that I can verify that a parabola with a horizontal directrix is a quadratic function. ○ SC: I can find the standard equation of a parabola from a focus and directrix by using patterns. ● HONORS Lesson 9.6: Turn It Around - Practice Understanding ○ LI: I am practicing my understanding of parabolas so that I can write equations for parabolas with vertical directrices. ○ SC: I can graph and write equations for parabolas with vertical directrices using both the definition of a parabola and a formula. ● HONORS Lesson 9.7: Operating on a Shoestring - Solidify Understanding ○ LI: I am solidifying my understanding of ellipses so that I can understand the definition of an ellipse and the relationships between the parts of an ellipse. ○ SC: I can show my understanding of ellipses and the relationships between all the parts by analyzing and writing the equation of an ellipse. ● HONORS Lesson 9.8: What Happens If…? - Practice Understanding ○ LI: I am practicing my understanding of hyperbolas so that I can graph hyperbolas and write their equations. ○ SC: I can write the equation of a hyperbola using the asymptotes.
