RFX Tailgate Seal Installation Instructions

TAILGATE SEAL KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS | PART NO. RFXTGSEAL

PRODUCT USE : The adhesive-backed seal is designed to help reduce dust, water and road debris entering through gaps around a closed pickup tailgate.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED Lint-free cloth, automotive-safe cleaner or 70% isopropyl alcohol, tape measure and sharp scissors or a utility knife. BEFORE YOU START Install in a warm, dry area. Allow the truck and seal to reach room temperature if they are cold. Confirm the intended seal path before removing any adhesive liner. Adhesion may be reduced on textured, waxed, oily, rusty or damaged surfaces. INSTALLATION STEPS 1. Park and prepare the truck. Park on a level surface, switch off the vehicle and open the tailgate fully. 2. Choose the seal path. Identify the fixed truck-bed surfaces that will contact the closed tailgate. The seal is normally routed along the two side gaps and lower edge. Keep clear of latches, hinges, cables and drain openings. 3. Clean the mounting surface. Remove dirt and residue, then wipe the area with an automotive-safe cleaner or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Let the surface dry completely. 4. Dry-fit the seal. Position the seal without removing the liner. Check the routing, corners and total length. Do not stretch the seal while measuring. 5. Apply in short sections. Start at a lower corner. Peel back 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in) of liner, align the seal and press it firmly in place. Continue gradually, removing a small amount of liner at a time. 6. Finish the corners and trim. Guide the seal around corners without pulling it tight. Trim the excess only after confirming the final position. Butt the ends together without overlapping them. 7. Press, close and check. Apply firm pressure along the full seal. Close the tailgate slowly and confirm it latches normally without excessive force. Reposition the seal immediately if it inter feres with operation. IMPORTANT: For the strongest bond, leave the seal undisturbed for at least 24 hours before washing the truck or exposing the area to heavy moisture. Do not block the tailgate latches, hinges or drainage paths. Check the seal periodically and press down any lifting ends. Clean with mild soap and water. Stop using the seal if it prevents the tailgate from closing or latching.
