DLI 1st grade guide

Canyons School District

The Next step is to group students for intervention:

● List scores for each student on all assessed skills ● Highlight any scores that are lower than 90% ● Start instruction at the lowest point that student is below mastery ● Group students with similar needs for instruction

The materials for instruction with the PLL are as follows:

One complete, 20-page, easy-to-follow lesson plan for 5 days of 30-minute instruction • 40 Teacher Word Cards • 200 Student Word Cards (5 sets of 40 printed cards) • Teacher Header Cards • Student Header Cards (enough for 5 students) • 3 Teacher Passages

• 3 Student Passages (5 copies of each) • 4 Fluency Sheets (5 copies of each) • 2 Sight Word review grids • 1 Phonics review grid • 1 Progress monitoring chart

The PLL materials are organized into baggies, or in some cases binders or folders, depending on your school site. The items are an actual library. Here you will fnd the lessons for skill that you will be teaching for the day/week of instruction.

The PLL lessons can be started at any point after determining with the PSI the lowest skill on the continuum not yet mastered. There are 75 week-long lessons, each focusing on a different skill. See the graphics below for how the lessons are set up.
