SPRO Litle John 50

Big Bite Baits 8” Finesse Worm

Following the trend of chasing shad and targeting feeding bass, the next bait that is a must have this time of year is the SPRO Little John 50 (pictured above) . A crankbait is another deadly presenta- tion around hungry fish. The Little John line of crankbaits from SPRO can load the boat with fish. This bait works great through cover, and hunts well in open water. During fall time fishing, these are the characteristics you want in a crankbait. When bass are feeding in open water, the action of the bait is ideal for calling fish in. Conversely, as this bait bounces off cover, darting through the water column…it truly shines! Fall can provide a wide ar- ray of weather scenarios, and the SPRO Little John 50 is designed to perform well in all instances.

Later in the fall cold fronts begin to occur more frequently. Once these fronts blow through, we are left with sunny, blue bird skies. In these situations it is key to downsize lure and line presentations. The ideal bait for post frontal conditions is the 8” Finesse Worm from Big Bite Baits (top right ). Pair- ing this soft plastic with a lightweight jighead is a good way to search for the fish positioned to the bottom. Most finesse worms that anglers use when “down- sizing” with a shaky head are of the 4” variety. It may be a simple mental approach, but the larg- er finesse worm appears to generate more confi- dence, especially for tournament anglers. When the goal is to catch the five largest bass possible in just 8 hours, throwing bigger baits increase your odds at catching larger fish. The key is to be con- fident in the lure on the other end of your line, and the 8” Finesse Worm provides that. Long story short, the fall is one of the best times of the year to hit the water. While the number of tro- phy fish may not be overwhelming, you are guar- anteed to get a ton of bites. Be sure to fill your tackle box with these three presentations, and get ready to catch some fish.
