HOME SIZE ADVICE If you’re in the market for a new home, you may be wondering about the amount of square footage you actually need. While you don’t want to end up in a space that is small and cramped, you also don’t want to spend more than you need on an overly large home. One way to come up with a good idea of how much house you actually need is to consider how many people will be living in the home. If the home is just for you, and you don’t plan on having children or they’re already grown up, then perhaps a condo or a small house would be the perfect fit. On the other hand, if you have a large family – and perhaps even live with your extended family – you’ll need a lot more space. Other things to consider would be whether you plan on having guests come and stay often, if you have multiple pets and whether you live in a climate where you can spend a lot of time in your outdoor spaces. Potentially the biggest factor that will play into the decision is how much house you can afford. Of course, there’s no need to buy a huge house just because you can. However, if you’d like a lot of space, but just don’t have the funds – remember a smaller home can be organized and decorated in a way that makes it feel bigger.
