Noteworthy: Senior provides pitching staff experience and depth. 2003: Appeared in 16 games with 11 starts .. . finished with 3.82 ERA ... tallied 6 K's in 6 innings of work against BYU ... scattered 2 hits over 6 innings against Southern Utah. 2002: Team 's most consistent pitcher. Earned All-WISL honors. Finished 7- 18 wth team-best 2.95 ERA. Complete-game 2-hitter with 4 strikeouts in 2-1 win over BYU. Also tossed complete– game two-hitters against Concordia and LMU with Toreros on losing end. Season-best 6 strikeouts against LMU on April 26th. 2001: Appeared in 27 contests with 16 starts on the mound and finished with record of 6-9. Ranked second on the team with a 2.79 ERA, and totaled 44 strikeouts in 98.0 innings of work.

Notched 7 strikeouts in 8 innings of work against LMU (April 29). Earned three straight wins against Wright State, Eastern Illinois and Santa Clara in a nine day span . WISL All-Academic squad pick. Prep: Prepped at Harvard-Westlake where she lettered four years in softball. In her senior season, she recorded a 22-2 win-loss record from the pitching circle, a 0.90 earned run average and a .3 15 batting average while leading her team to a Mission League Championship and a CIF semifinal appearance. Russell was a two-time All-Mission League selection, an All-State selection, team MVP and All-Star. She also played travel ball for Valley Breeze Gold.

Personal: Earned a Presidential Scholarship to USD... two-time WISL All-Academic... Russell was also recruited by Cornell and Washington... Chose USD because of the academics and softball team. Born on June 2, 1982 in Los Angeles, CA. Parents are Marcia and Steven Russell. Biology Major and Psychology/Chemistry minor.

Noteworthy: Will compete for playing time in the infield. Is a two– time WISLAll-Academic selection. Coming back from a knee injury. 2003: Started 35 games last season. Collected I5 hits with 2 doubles and 5 RBI .. . 2 RBI vs. Utah and belted 2 hits twice (LMU & UCSD). 2002: Started 45 of 46 games last season. Among returners , ranked second in hitting after batting .244 with 11 runs, 2 doubles and 9 RBI. Tallied six multi-hit games with a best of 3-for-4 ( I run , I RBI) outing against Saint Mary's in the WlSL Tournament. Scored 2 runs in three different contests. 2001: Played in 29 games with 20 starts. Totaled three multi-hit games with two hits against Azusa Pacific (March 3rd), Saint Mary 's Co ll ege (March 14th) and UC Riverside (May 4th).

Against Riverside was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored. Named to WISL All-Academic team. Prep: Prepped at Notre Dame High School where she lettered in softball , voll eyball and basketball. She earned the coaches award and most inspirational award in softball while leading her team to a Monterey Bay League Champi onship. Miller also earned second team All-County honors in volleyball. She has played travel softball for the Salinas Valley Wildcats, San Jose Strikers and Salinas Storm.

Personal: Born May I , 1982 in Salinas, CA. Parents are Dan and Beth Miller. Father, Dan, played :::~-----~~– football at Hartnell Junior Co llege and tennis at Fresno State University. Ashley was also recruited by Brown, UC Davis, UC San Diego and Co lumbi a. Business major. Dean's List honoree and Presidential Scholar.
