Workflow – Interacting with Workflow

When the user clicks the [Reject] or the [Approve] Button, they will be presented with related options:

• [Approve]: To “%next workflow state%”: o Approves the EC record into the next workflow STATE. If the EC record is currently in its last workflow STATE, this menu label will note “To End” instead and if selected, the EC record will be approved out of the current workflow PROCESS. • [Reject]: Reject To “%previous workflow state%”: o Rejects the EC record into the previous workflow STATE. If the EC record is in the first workflow STATE (of the workflow PROCESS), this command will not be available • [Reject]: Out of Workflow: o Rejects the EC record out of its workflow PROCESS entirely, making it a WORKFLOW_REJECTED EC record ( referring to its life-cycle status ). • [Reject]: Place On Manual Hold: o Places the EC record “On Hold” so the EC record is flagged from just being available to be approved/rejected – likely to allow the decision maker time to investigate a concern (perhaps they are waiting for an answer to a question about the EC record). The administrator can optionally configure one or more required “conditions” for each workflow STATE that must be satisfied before an EC record can be approved. For example, the administrator could configure a “condition” mandating that all EC records must contain a value in their [MANUFACTURER] field before the EC record can be approved past its current workflow STATE. If the user attempts to approve an EC record forward that does not satisfy a “condition”, a dialog box similar to the following will be displayed:
