Accessing Existing EC Records EC records are assigned to document records that are registered within MechWorks PDM. The easiest way to locate the EC records that are assigned to a document record is to select the document record within MechWorks PDM and then to display its [ EC ] grid (which is located in the Browser’s grid section with the [Composed of], [Used by], [Search] and other grids). This chapter will cover topics related to how the users can easily locate and access an existing EC record:

o How can the user View an existing EC record? o How can the user Edit an existing EC record? o How can the user assign additional documents to an EC record?

EC Grid

Similar to the [Composed of], [Used by], [Attachments] and other grids, the [ EC ] grid is context sensitive. As the user selects document from within the Browser of MechWorks PDM and if they have its [ EC ] grid displayed, the [ EC ] grid will be automatically populated with the EC records assigned to the selected document. The figure above shows that the selected document [MW 000026] has many EC records assigned to it.
