Accessing Existing EC Records – Searching

Right-mouse selecting a record within the the results grid (of the EC Search Form) will display a context sensative menu similar to the menu that was noted within the [ EC ] grid that is located within the MechWorks PDM Browser:

• [View]: o Opens the selected EC Data Form in View mode. NOTE: If the EC record has not been terminated or approved all the way through workflow, the EC Data Form will contain an [Edit] Button available to the users that have the rights to Edit the EC Data Form (see the previous sections for more about the Edit mode). • [Open]: o Optionally, the EC record can also have an associated physical file for visibility/access outside of MechWorks PDM (as it is written from the record’s contents from MechWorks PDM). The two most common formats for a physical file (if it is created) are Excel and/or PDF. If the physical file exists, its [FILE_DIRECTORY] and [FILE_NAME] fields are automatically populated for the noted EC record and this [Open] command will open the physical file. • [Documents]: o [Working Set]  Creates a [Working Set] within MechWorks PDM of all the assigned documents of the selected EC record. • [Export]: o [Excel]:  The administrator can configure an Excel template with specific formatting rules, allowing users to export the metadata of the selected EC record as an Excel file. If the administrator has completed this procedure, then executing the [Excel] command will create the Excel file (of the selected EC record) and open it. o [PDF]:  The administrator can configure an Excel template with specific formatting rules, allowing users to export the metadata of the selected EC record as a PDF file. If the administrator has completed this procedure, then executing the [PDF] command will create the PDF file (of the selected EC record) and open it.
