Sussex Branch AGM Dave Stamp Sussex Branch

At the Sussex Branch AGM on the 22/2/18, Tom and Margaret Hughes stood down as Social Secretary and Minute Secretary respectively and were presented with flowers and a garden voucher in recognition of their contribution to the branch by the Chairman and Secretary. Joining the IPA in the 60’s Tom and Margaret’s total service to the branch and Association was 105 years.

Presentation to Clive Wood Fred Rankin Publicity Officer, Leicestershire Branch Clive Wood was elected as Chair for IPA Leicestershire Branch in 2014. His enthusiasm for the role was exceptional and he helped to create a VIBRANT association, not only at Branch level but

also within 5 Region when he was elected Regional Chair in March 2016. Together with other stalwart members of the Branch, he brought back the opportunity to speak with recruits in their class environment showing what opportunities being a member of the IPA offered them. Following these talks over the next couple of years, the membership of Leicestershire Branch increased by an incredible 25%. When Clive first became Chair, membership was just over 140 members. Today, it stands at a healthy 176. He introduced new events into the programme including such activities as a fantastic Treasure Hunt which has grown in popularity over the years; coffee mornings at a variety of garden centres and involvement in the Leicestershire Police Volunteers Award Evening where IPA Leicestershire Branch present an award to the most improved Police Cadet. Clive has made himself available to take part in almost everything done by the Branch and, in particular, fostering the renewing of twinning links with IPA Krefeld – Leicester’s twin city. He thoroughly deserves his recognition by way of the Branch presentation which was performed by Vice Chair Andy McIntosh at the recent AGM. We mustn’t forget the support behind the man; his wife Helen, who received a beautiful orchid in recognition of her help.

Norfolk/Suffolk Branch AGM - Sunday 25th February 2018. Lawrence Wright Regional Chairman No.8 Region. The photograph with three persons are at the back, Lawrence Wright, the Regional Chairman, front left Trevor Smith (Secretary/Treasurer) and right Steve Thacker (Chairman). There were 16 persons present at this meeting who afterwards sat down to a lovely Sunday Roast at The Park Farm Hotel in Hethersett. The meeting discussed proposals for events during the coming year and how they would arrange an iconic event in Norfolk.

Clive had decided to step down from his post of Chair because of his appointment to National Vice President in 2017. He also relinquished his post as Regional Chair for the same reason. His ability to promote the IPA, his bubbling personality and his commitment to following things through is recognised by all other members. We wish him good luck and fortune in his new role.

20 Year Certificates 20 Year certificates were handed out to Nottinghamshire Branch Members on the 15th December 2017 on Members Day at Arthur Troop House. Arthur’s son, Kevin Troop kindly did the honours with Notts Chair, Gurmit Kaur. The recipients were:
