Asia Pacific Wire & Cable Corporation Limited has appointed Mr Ivan Hsia as the company's new chief financial officer. Mr Hsia will replace Mr Frank Tseng, who is steppingdown fromhis position for personal reasons. The company has valued the significant contributions made by Mr Tseng during his tenure and notes that Mr Tseng will assist the company during a transition period. Mr Hsia joined the company in 2011, serving initiallyasseniormanagerofAPWC’s internal audit group, later being appointed deputy CFO. As deputy CFO, Mr Hsia has taken the lead on the company’s conversion from US GAAP to IFRS, performed various CFO functions, and reported to Mr Frank Tseng and Mr Chun-Tang Yuan, CEO of APWC, on special projects assigned to him. Mr Hsia holds a Master’s degree in business administration in accounting from TamKang University, Taiwan. “On behalf of our board of directors and management team, we want to sincerely thank Frank Tseng for his years of service as our CFO,” said Chun-Tang Yuan, CEO of APWC.

Main One and Phase3 Telecoms have concluded plans to expand their combinedfiber opticnetwork tocorporate and public institutions across Nigeria. Communications manager of Phase3 Telecoms, Mrs Morayo Nwabufo, recently stated that besides the recent deployment of broadband access facilities to institutions in Oyo state, the two organizations plan to expand their connectivity to other parts of the country. Mrs Nwabufo said that fiber optic broadband helps small businesses expand and thrive and it will help to create more jobs while helping to boost the nation's economy as a whole. She added that a planned awareness creation event aims at providing a better approach to business growth in the South West. Phase3 Telecom, Nwabufo explained, has also commenced the deployment of model network to enable high-speed connectivity in the Nigerian real estate market as an off-shoot of its upgraded fiber-based wireless telecommunication infrastructure.
