INDEX

cable is able to provide higher throughput and an increased signal-to-noise ratio in a smaller package. At approximately 0.285" in diameter, the cable is up to 32 percent thinner, compared to traditional cat 6A cables, so saving space in a communications room, reducing the amount of cable management accessories required, and lowering the risk associated with fire and smoke in the plenum space.

The laser gauging aspect of the Gi-360 consists of eight laser beams, perpendicular tothepart,axis-checkingdimensional values such as missing washer, straightness, thread measurement, damaged thread, oversized flange, shank length, perpendicularity and poor corners. Additional options available for the Gi-360 include super eddy current and vision stations to view the ends of the fastener. This Gi-360 also includes a redesigned accepted parts chute, to dissipate the kinetic energy of the good parts as they exit the machine. The redesigned chute also prevents the parts from hitting one another, preventing damage to parts that are already in the accepted parts bin. Defects detected plus the data provided by the Gi-360 are used to improve the manufacturing process. OMC is offering a fiber optic link service for the high-voltage market. HV applications, such as power distribution networks, often require optical isolation because of the voltages present, but achieving consistency of performance can be a challenge. The new OMC technology combines the company’s glass and polymer fiber optic cable assemblies with its Active Alignment technology to ensure that its fiber-optic Fiber optic links solve consistency problems

Dual feeder supplied

The first Gi-360 with a dual feeder has been delivered by General Inspection to an Italian fastener manufacture. A dual feeder can run both studs and bolts, in multiple sizes, on the same machine. It requires very little changeover time and avoids the cost of buying multiple machines for different part profiles. The sorting machine is built onto a rail system that allows it to slide from one side of the feeder (for parts with heads) to the other (studs), then locks into place for stability.
