A cut above Some significant and stunning pieces being created today feature large beads or glowing cabochon-cut precious gemstones. This year, Nirav Modi presented a high jewelry collection at La Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris. The highlight of the collection is inspired by jewelry worn by 19th century Indian royals. The Emerald Maharani necklace features over 870 carats emeralds and 146 carats diamonds. Its graduated beads were meticulously sourced to ensure perfect symmetry and color matching. Tiffany & Co. and Takat showcase stunning tanzanites in sugarloaf-cabochon rings with diamond accents. Tiffany & Co.’s 32.27-carat stone is highlighted with an ocean-inspired sapphire and diamond design.
