The new priests, who will be or- dained by Bishop Buddy, are Revs. Earl Smith, John Desmond, and Modesto Capetillo, who completed their theological training at Im- maculate Heart Seminary, El Cajon, 1 and Rev. Michael Nolan, who finished his studies at St. Francis Seminary, also in El Cajon. OFFICIALS NAMED The ordinations will take place at a Solem Pontifical High Mass at 9 a.m. In the Cathedral. Father Smith, born March 29, 1921, in Springfield, Mo., began his seminary studies at St. Bernard's Seminary, Sious Falls, S.D., and studied at Conception Seminary, Conception, Mo., before coming to Immaculate Heart Seminary last year. He will celebrate his first Solem High Mass in St. Anthony's Church, Long Beach. ATTENDED S.D. SCHOOLS Born in Minot, N.D.. in 1923, Father Desmond received his ele- mentary and high school education at St. John's Parochial School, Horace Mann Junior High, and San Diego High School here. After a year at Cathedral School in St. Cloud, Minn., he entered St. John's University, Collegeville, Minn., from which he received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and history in 1945. That same year, he entered St. Thomas Seminary, Denver, where he studied before coming here a year ago. Father Desmond will celebrate his first Solem Mass at Bird Island, Minn., on June 13. EDUCATED IN MEXICO Father Capetillo, who was born in Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico, in 1913, was educated at the College of the Guadalupe Fathers, Mexico City; the Archdiocesan Seminary. ot Monterey; the Diocesan Semi- nary, of Sinalva, Culican, and Im- maculate Heart Seminary. After his ordination, Father Capetillo will return to Mexico to celebrate his first Solemn Mass in the Church of Our Lord of Consola- tion, Calera. Father Nolen, who was born in Drombanna, County Limerick, Ireland, Feb. 1, 1925, was educated at Donoughmore National School, County Limerick; Christian Broth- ers' Secondary School, Limerick City, and St. Patrick's College Thurles. County Tipperary, where he studied philosophy and theology.
