PDR REIRRADIATION FOR RECURRENCE

• 104 patients recurrent H&N cancer with PDR BT. • median FU 60 m. • Salvage surgery in 53/104 (51%) (R1 or R2 resection in > 80%).

• Salvage BT alone: 81 (78%), dose 56.7 Gy • Salvage BT + EBRT: 23 (32%), dose 24 Gy • Concomitant chemotherapy 55.8% • A single session of interstitial hyperthermia in 31.7%

• RESULTS:

• local tumor control

with simultaneous chemo:

76 % 39 %

without chemo

• Soft tissue necrosis: 17.3% • bone necrosis: 9.6% (only 3% required surgical treatment)
