sent back to the factory for possible repair. The 800 Series uses an inexpensive bolt-on tungsten holder. If this becomes damaged, two screws allow it to be quickly replaced. The rotation drive was completely redesigned to tolerate metal debris. A common problem with this type of head (all of which, by necessity, use a thermoplastic body) is heat and ultraviolet (UV) damage. The 800 Series uses two inexpensive insert plates made of a heat/UV resistant material to protect the housing. If damaged, they can be replaced in minutes. The OMNI-X black chrome is a mandrel made of hardened tool steel with ‘black chrome’ surface treatment. Both internal and customer tests have proved repeatedly

that it has a life cycle twice (or even longer) that of steel or steel hard chrome plated mandrels, while the price of these new mandrels is only slightly higher. However, this surface treatment does not give as long life performance as coatings provided by PVD or CVD method, but in respect of its lower price and shorter production time could be considered as a good substitution. These mandrels are mostly used to bend tubes of mild steel, aluminised steel, copper and their alloys, but in combination with good lubricants it is possible to use them to bend even some stainless steel tubes. New-serrated links – these bring a design that evenly distributes the load bearing function of the centre link in an effective design. Past designs used only a single key- way, which concentrated the load bearing to a small localised area of the centre link. The new serrated design provides a key- way over the entire mating surface area, resulting in effective load distribution. The bottom line is a stronger split centre link with reduced wear and increased life, which means less down-time replacing broken links. All Omni-X multi-ball mandrels include the serrated centre link and are the number one requested replacement centre link 

Magnatech LLC USA Hall 6 Stand D16 MAGNATECH will introduce an entirely new line of orbital tube weld heads for sterile/ high purity tube-to-tube and tube-to-fitting autogenous welding applications. Five models with overlapping ranges cover tubes from 3 to 168mm. Magnatech designed the new 800 Series line to replace its existing ‘C’ Series first generation models. Head water-cooling has been enhanced, allowing 100% duty cycles without cool-downs. The 800 Series was designed with simplified assembly and serviceability as a fundamental requirement, and can be easily and completely disassembled/reassembled by anyone, using the tools provided. This removes the problem of orbital head designs that often require a skilled technician for even the simplest service. Conventionally, head manufacturers secure the tungsten electrode in a hole drilled in the ‘rotor’, which rotates the tungsten around the fixed tube. If the threads for the set screw used for tungsten retention strip from repeated use (a common problem), the expensive rotor must be replaced or
