tailor-made customer solutions as well as turnkey engineering and manufacturing from a single source. In one case study, to protect tubes from corrosion, customisation included automatic stacking of the treated components. Rösler designs and builds preservation lines and accessory equipment, which fully meet all customer specifications for metal sheets, I-beams, tubes and round bars. The focus is on cost effective processing of the parts and a high equipment uptime. The turnkey preservation lines are usually

complemented with specially designed transport systems, a pre-heater, roller conveyor shot blast machine, an automatic paint system and a paint drier. At the centre of any preservation line is the shot blast machine, which frequently requires design modifications for blasting the customer specific parts. This ensures that the parts are sufficiently cleaned (for example according to SA 2,5 standards) to allow problem-free coating with a welding primer. Some of the more recent projects are preservation lines for steel tubes at

Mittal Steel in the Czech Republic and Perwouralskij in Russia. Since the surface cleanliness requirements were not very strict, the preservation lines were designed without shot blasting. However, a later upgrade with a shot blast machine is possible. Customer specifications called for coating the parts with temporary corrosion protection paint for tubes with a length of 4–13.5m and ODs of 133–273mm with a minimum of paint loss. In addition, special information like part length and weight must be stencilled on the parts, before they are stacked in bundles and packaged. The Rösler engineers, together with technical personnel from Mittal Steel in Ostrava, developed a fully automatic system with a capacity of 164 tubes of 6m in length or 120 tubes of 12m in length per hour. The new sawing centre RASACUT MXS achieves in triple cut – depending on workpiece dimensions – an output of up to 11,000 pieces per hour. It is designed for tube diameters of 8 to 20mm for the triple cut and of 6 to 45mm for cutting in a single cut. Characteristic of the RSA sawing centres is the modular configuration. Depending on the requirements of the customer, the sawing centre can be configured or expanded later by modules for de-burring, fixed length measuring as well as for cleaning and stacking, whereas these modules do not reduce the high sawing performance. For this reason the output data are not theoretical values, but correspond to the real production output in the everyday working process. The consistent reduction of ancillary times and the optimum combination of machine and tool technology are the basis for increased productivity.
