work strictly on the normal body of the tube itself, straightening it along all of its length. Another of the company’s ranges features straightening machines to be used after heat treatment, in hot conditions: tubes pass through the machine at a temperature of 650-750°C. CARTACCI has been building machines for straightening tubes for 44 years, and in the last ten years has introduced a number of innovations in the design of these machines. Its straightening machines are used for a wide range of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, gold, copper and galvanised steel. The company’s automatic straightening machines with ten rolls feature a touch screen on which the data of the tube is entered, and the machine calculates with high precision the right order to obtain straightened tubes without marking. The settings are memorised, so they can be recalled for the next production of the same tube. The presence of ten rolls allows for versatile settings: five different suggested settings can be used, according the particular characteristics of the tube to be worked. Quality targets include not only the straightening of the body of the tube (with very restricted level of tolerance), but also control of the ovalling around the nominal diameter, control of the linearity extended at the ends of the tube, and the absence of marks, internal or external.
