Italian tube manufacturer uses TubeInspect for reverse engineering AICON’s tube measuring system TubeInspect has been in use at Sag Tubi in Novellara (Italy) since 2009 and the operators say they particularly appreciate the speed with which the exact bending data of sample tubes can be determined. Sag Tubi specialises in the production of hydraulic tubes of a high product quality, which has been a top priority for the company, and this means that industrues such as automotive sector rely on Sag Tubi to supply the best hydraulic tubes. Until the end of 2008, Sag Tubi used a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for inspecting bent tubes. It was also used to calculate bending data whenever a customer delivered a prototype without nominal data. However, this method proved to be extremely time-consuming. Via Aicon’s Italian reseller QFP, Sag Tubi heard about another measuring machine that would drastically reduce the measuring time: TubeInspect, which works with the help of high-resolution digital cameras. It acquires tube geometries and compares them with nominal data. Additionally, the system can calculate the parameters of bending points, also for sample tubes without construction data. Based on this data, the bending machines can immediately be set-up. In doing so, the calculation of the tube geometries will only take a few seconds. The Sag Tubi team is highly impressed by the efficiency increase generated with TubeInspect as measuring procedures lasting for hours are now a thing of the past. At Tube 2010 exhibition, Aicon will showcase the system New mill set for Russia CZECH company Attl a spol SRO has installed and commissioned a new tube mill in Yekaterinburg, Russia to produce longitudinally welded tubes and profiles from steel and galvanised material, 102 x 5mm. The mill features a new semi-automatic coil end welder and shear NPA, fast change of forming and calibration sections RVS system, ALDA Combi flying cutoff which enables cuts by flying shear for speed or flying cold saw when quality of the cut off face is of prime importance. Their ALDA Combi enables both operations on one machine with change-over time of only 15 minutes. The mill includes fully automatic bundling machine Attl AUT 8000. The mill is also equipped with a Thermatool HF welding generator. The company also makes mills for road barrier profiles and accessories.
