for further transport and inspection of the cut pieces. Utilising state-of-the art laser systems, circular runout and end squareness can be checked (standard deviation ≤ 0.00375mm each). Likewise, the Rattunde patented measuring system Penguin 1 can perform laser-based measurements of outside diameter, wall thickness and inside diameter, all seamlessly integrated on the SCB. Rattunde holds an additional patent for the Contour Measuring System – precision mechanical sampling is used to measure chamfers and radii on machined tube ends. CMS can be added as a module to the saw machining centre or it can be used independently for statistical evaluations of samples. GERMAN saw specialist Rattunde & Co GmbH offers workpiece measuring systems for its saw machining centres. These robust, yet precise, measuring systems operate with minimal standard deviation. During the sawing cycle, Rattunde measuring systems can inspect workpiece length, circular runout, end squareness, outside diameter, wall thickness and much more; ensuring zero defect parts for even the tightest tolerances. Quicker, more profitable, and yet precise: the number of requirements for production processes is undoubtedly increasing. Those wishing to deliver perfect products to customers need technical equipment that operates at high speed and guarantees faultless products. This only works, however, if the machine “knows” what it is doing – and this requires exact measuring data allowing a comparison of actual dimensions to target ranges. To fulfil this requirement, different and

specialised measuring systems are available for the high performance saw machining centres from Rattunde. For example, the sawing centres ACS ® +CFM (sawing and chamfering) and ACS ® +BDM (sawing and brush-deburring) can be fitted with a precise length measuring system. Thanks to the modular design of the machines, this can be done without difficulty. Mechanical measurement with precise measuring sensors determines and records the exact length of the workpiece with a standard deviation of ≤ 0.001mm. Workpieces outside the required tolerance are discarded immediately by the length measuring system. Moreover a patented length measuring device for multiple cut is available for ACS ® +BDM centres measuring up to four workpieces simultaneously.
