 Welcome 

Dear Guests,

World Congress Attendees,

The Santa Gertrudis Breeders International would like to extend a warm welcome to all who are joining us for the Santa Gertrudis World Congress 2019. We greatly appreciate your participation. We know this is a substantial investment of your time and money, and we hope the program we have put together will meet and/ or exceed your expectations. The next 17 days will give producers an overview of how the Santa Gertrudis breed is thriving in our country. We have tried to balance our agenda with ranch tours and educational workshops, as well as time to enjoy some of the cultural highlights in the areas we visit. We have a lot packed into a few short weeks! We hope it will be an opportunity not only to learn more about our breed in the United States and the cattle industry in general, but also to develop and grow friendships and collaborations between those of us who share a passion for this breed of red cattle. I would like to thank our SGBI Executive Director John Ford for his guidance and vision for the Santa Gertrudis breed and for helping us put together this World Congress and the Growing Globally Seminar. Also, the BluePrint Media team, headed by Lisa Bard and Judy McDaniel, have put many hours of hard work into making this an event to remember! Once again, thank YOU for taking time from your busy schedules to join us here in the United States. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you as we GROW GLOBALLY and celebrate the Santa Gertrudis breed.

On behalf of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, welcome to the Santa Gertrudis World Congress 2019. Membership is excited that you are joining us for 17 days of everything Santa Gertrudis. In an industry that is constantly changing and evolving, our breed has the attention of cattle producers worldwide. Regardless of location, Santa Gertrudis cattle perform profitably, even in the most challenging environmental conditions. In 2013, Santa Gertrudis Breeders International became the first beef breed association in the world to adopt single-step methodology for incorporating DNA into the breed’s genetic evaluation. Adopting this cutting- edge technology has made Santa Gertrudis the first Bos indicus -influenced breed to offer members and commercial customers genomic-enhanced EPDs, creating higher prediction accuracies for younger animals and characterizing genetics for traits where it is difficult to collect phenotypes. SGBI is proud to be a U.S. beef industry leader in genetic technology, producing cattle that are profitable for all industry sectors. Over the next two weeks, membership will be showcasing the results of the association’s DNA-verified genetic evaluation. SGBI members look forward to discussing opportunities that will expand the breed’s global footprint, increase market share and strengthen association relationships around the world. We are glad you have joined us and are ready to GROW GLOBALLY.

Sincerely,

Truly,

John Ford Executive Director Santa Gertrudis Breeders International
