Y así, acaso desa- fiando al destino, todo comenzó cuando el padre del icono asturiano más universal le regaló a su hermana un kart que, final- mente, cayó en sus manos. Con este coche ganó su primera carrera y, entrenando in- cesantemente, consiguió la licencia de la Real Federación Española de Automovilis- mo. Era un niño, pero ya apuntaba muy alto cuando arrasaba en las competiciones in- fantiles a finales de los 80, con apenas siete u ocho años. El mito se estaba fraguando.
