ILUSIONES CUMPLIDAS

WHERE DREAMS COME TRUE / ERFÜLLTE WÜNSCHE

ES Son niños y están repletos de ilusiones. Aunque los pequeños con los que colabora Make a Wish tienen otro punto más en común: padecen una enfermedad grave. La organi- zación, fundada en 1999 por Daniel Gómez García y Mª Rosa Rausell Tamayo, trabaja para generar y potenciar el deseo de seguir luchando en todos y cada uno de ellos, enri- queciendo sus vidas con experiencias llenas de esperanza y alegría. En 2009, Make a Wish pasó a ser una oficina afiliada a la fundación Make-A-Wish® Interna- tional, organización reconocida por las Nacio- nes Unidas, presente en casi 50 países en los cinco continentes. Numerosos particulares, pero también compañías de todo el mundo, colaboran ofreciendo apoyo económico o de otro tipo para hacer realidad las ilusiones de estos niños. RIU es una de ellas. La cadena ho- telera ofrece la estancia en sus establecimien- tos tanto a los niños que quieren ver realizado algunos de sus sueños como a sus familias. Visitar los escenarios de la saga Harry Potter , conocer al mismísimo Bob Esponja o ver en directo un espectáculo de lucha libre son ejemplos de ilusiones que algunos de estos chicos y chicas ya han visto cumplidas gracias a Make a Wish y a las aportaciones de los co- laboradores y mecenas. Desde la organización explican que la emoción y alegría que para ellos supone ver cumplido su sueño tiene un efecto terapéutico: «Ver su ilusión culminada resulta un beneficio ostensible que contribuye al tratamiento integral de su enfermedad». Como Candela, de 10 años, que ya hizo su deseo realidad en el ClubHotel Riu Chiclana: “Mi ilusión es ir a un hotel con piscina, playa, actividades y un gran bu et”.

EN They are children and they are full of dreams. However, the youngsters with whom Make a Wish works have something else in common: they are su ering from a serious illness. The organisation, founded in 1999 by Daniel Gómez García and María Rosa Rausell Tamayo, works to generate and promote the will to continue fighting in each and every child, enriching their lives with experiences that bring them hope and happiness. In 2009, Make a Wish became an a liate of Make-A-Wish® International, an organisa- tion present in almost 50 countries across five continents and recognised by the United Nations for its work with children. Numerous private individuals and companies throughout the world work with the organisation, providing funding or other support to make these chil- dren’s dreams come true. RIU is one of these. The hotel chain provides accommodation at its hotels for children who want to live their dreams and for their families. Visiting the setting of the Harry Potter’s saga, meeting SpongeBob SquarePants in person and watching a live wrestling match are just some examples of how young children’s dreams have been fulfilled thanks to Make a Wish and the support of its collaborators and sponsors. The organisation explains how the emotions and happiness of having a dream come true have a therapeutic e ect: “To see their dream come true has a real benefit that contributes to the integrated treatment of their illness.” Like Candela, aged 10, for example, whose dream came true at ClubHotel Riu Chiclana: “My dream was to go to a hotel with a swim- ming pool, beach, activities and a large bu et.”

DE Es sind Kinder und sie haben viele Träume. Aber die Kleinen, für die sich Make a Wish enga- giert, haben noch eine weitere Gemeinsamkeit: Sie sind schwer krank. Ziel der 1999 von Daniel Gómez García und María Rosa Rausell Tamayo ins Leben gerufenen Organisation ist es, mit Hilfe von Erlebnissen, die den Kindern Ho nung und Freude geben, in jedem einzelnen von ihnen den Willen zu wecken und zu stärken, weiter gegen die Krankheit zu kämpfen. 2009 wurde Make a Wish eine Landesorganisa- tion der Make-A-Wish® Foundation International, die von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannt und in fast 50 Ländern auf den fünf Kontinenten ver- treten ist. Zahlreiche Privatpersonen, aber auch Unternehmen aus der ganzen Welt unterstützen diese finanziell oder mit anderen Mitteln, um die Wünsche der Kinder in Erfüllung gehen zu lassen. RIU ist eines von ihnen. Die Hotelkette bietet den Kindern, die ihre Träume verwirklicht sehen wollen, und ihren Familien den Aufenthalt in ihren Hotels an. Die Drehorte der Harry-Potter-Filmreihe zu sehen, Sponge Bob persönlich kennenzulernen oder eine Wrestling-Show live mitzuerleben sind Beispiele für Wünsche, die für einige dieser Kinder dank Make a Wish und den Beiträgen der Unterstützer und Mäzene bereits Wirklich- keit wurden. Die Organisation erklärt, dass die Emotionen und die Freude, die die Erfüllung ihres Traumes den Kindern bereiten, einen therapeutischen E ekt haben: „Seinen Traum in Erfüllung gehen zu sehen, hat eine spürbare, positive Auswirkung auf die gesamte Behand- lung der Krankheit.“ Wie bei der 10-jährigen Candela, die ihren Traum im ClubHotel Riu Chiclana bereits verwirklicht hat: „Mein Traum ist es, in ein Hotel mit Pool, Strand, Animation und einem großen Bu et zu gehen.“
