In individual successes, 1st XI captain Harrison Ward and leading run-scorer Ben Charlesworth played for the England U19 ‘Test’ and ODI sides against their South African counterparts, with Ben finishing the summer playing for Gloucestershire Middlesex CCC and Glamorgan CCC, and also taking 3/25 against Middlesex – an extraordinary achievement for a 17-year- old in only his third first-class game. Finally, 14-year-old Alex Horton, who joined as a Shell in September, and kept wicket and batted in the top order all season for the 1st XI, became the youngest person ever to play Minor County cricket when he played in a T20 for Wales Minor Counties v Dorest CCC in May. He followed this achievement by excelling in the victorious South and West side in the prestigious U15 Bunbury Festival, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
