PROFESSORSHIP OF REAL PROPERTY, EQUITY AND CONVEYANCING. The Council will, on Thursday, 25th June, 1931, elect a Professor of Real Property, Equity and Conveyancing to the Society, in room of Mr. John J. Early, Solicitor, whose term of office will expire at the end of Trinity Sittings. The newly-elected Professor will enter upon his duties next October. The appointment will be made for one year, and the person appointed will be eligible for re- appointment for each of the four succeeding years. A candidate for the Professorship must be either a Barrister or a Solicitor, and intending applicants are requested to send their applications before the 16th June to the Secretary of the Society, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin. The Professor will be required to deliver forty-two lectures in the year, between the months of September and July, and to conduct viva voce examinations on the subjects of the lectures. The lectures are delivered on Tuesdays and Fridays between two and three o'clock, p.m. Enqtiiry for further particulars should be addressed to the Secretary. OBITUARY. MR. JOHN BARRY DEANE, Solicitor, died upon the 2nd April, 1931, at his residence, St. Mary's, Bandon, Co. Cork. Mr. Deane served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Francis Fitzmaurice, Dunman- way ; was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1888, and practised at Bandon. MR. THOMAS P. STUART, Solicitor, died upon the 6th April, 1931, at 4 Eden Park, Sandycove, Co. Dublin. Mr. Stuart was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1893, and practised at 122 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, up to 1904, when he retired. MR. HENRY B. BURTON, Solicitor, died upon the 2nd April, 1931, at his residence, 59 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin. Mr. Burton was admitted in Trinity Term, 1864, and practised, in partnership with his son, Mr. Erroll Burton, under the style of Henry B. Burton & Son, at 43 Dame Street, Dublin. Mr. Burton was for some years Secretary of the Solicitors' Benevolent Association, from which office he retired in 1886.

MR. FREDERICK HALL, Solicitor, died upon the 26th April, 1931. Mr. Hall was admitted in Michaelmas Term, 1875, and practised, in partnership with his son, Mr. Frederick Hall, under the style of Frederick Hall and Son, at 39 South Mall, Cork, up to 1918, when he retired. He was an Extra-ordinary Member of the Council of the Society from 1904 to 1914. MR. THOMAS B. MIDDLETON, Solicitor, died upon the 30th April, 1931, at his residence, Athgoe Park, Shankill, Co. Dublin. Mr. Middleton was admitted in Trinity Term, 1876, and practised at 26 Eustace Street, Dublin. COMMISSIONER TO ADMINISTER OATHS. The following has been appointed a Com– missioner to administer Oaths : Smyth, John P. J., 62 Dawson Street, Dublin. EXAMINATION RESULTS. At the Preliminary Examination held on 20th and 21st April, the following passed the examination, and their names are arranged in order of merit : 1. Andrew F. O'C. Comyn. 2. Nathaniel Lacy. 3. James F. Little. 4. ' Arthur S. Murphy. 5. Thomas T. Keogh. 6. John Wells. 7. Aloysius D. O'Riordan. 8. Joseph N. Hughes. 9. Louis E. Lemass. Fifteen candidates attended : nine passed ; six failed. NEW MEMBER. The following has joined the Society : Patrick J. Kiely, 14 Ely Place, Dublin.
