BALLOT FOR COUNCIL. The ballot for election of Council will be held on Monday, 23rd November, from eleven o'clock to one o'clock, in the Secretary's Office, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin. Voting papers should reach the Secretary not later than one o'clock on the 23rd November. HALF-YEARLY GENERAL MEETING. The Half-yearly General Meeting of the Society will be held at half-past two o'clock, p.m., on Thursday, the 26th November, in the Hall of the Society, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin. MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. The first meeting of the Council held in the new premises of the Society, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, was held on 1st October : twenty-five members present. The late Sir William Orpen. The Council passed a resolution conveying their sympathy to Lady Orpen and the relations of the late Sir William Orpen in their bereavement. Sir William Orpen's grandfather, Sir Richard J. T. Orpen, was President of this Society from 1860 to 1876,

and his brothers, Mr. Charles St. G. Orpen and Mr. Arthur H. S. Orpen, are past Presidents of the Society. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Resolutions were passed conveying to the Presidents and Councils of the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Surgeons the thanks of the Council for having generousl}' granted to this Society the use of their halls and rooms from time to time A letter was read from a member drawing attention to the fact that upon cancellation of equities the registering authority now makes no requisition in regard to duties, and accordingly no note as to payment of duties is placed on the folio when an application for cancellation of equities is being dealt with. throughout the past nine years.
