We have a “Swap Shop” that enables items that would otherwise be thrown away, to be re-used and repurposed by others. This year approximately 15 tons was diverted from disposal by dropping off at the Swap Shop. Other items hauled away for recycling include: Car batteries – 1414 tons taken to West Paris Recycling in 2024 Tree, brush & yard debris – 202.57 tons was ground and removed by Custom Woodlands in Durham Scrap metal – 79.76 tons recycled at Grimmel Industries in Topsham Tires – 417 that went to BDS Tire Recycling in Fairfield

Once again, we would like to extend our thanks to the Public Works Department for their help throughout the year. They help us with various projects such as plowing and using their equipment on the grounds of the transfer station. We are grateful for the hand-me-down pick-up truck that we were given to use at the Transfer Station when they upgraded with a new one. We appreciate all that they do.

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the passing of Dennis Mazurkiewicz, our friend and co-worker for 10 years at the Transfer Station. Dennis was a favorite of the residents as he was helpful to everyone and knew so many by name. He once said that this was the favorite job he ever had. Dennis will be missed by the town’s residents as well as his co-workers.

Respectfully, Norman Lowe Transfer Station Manager
