TERMINATIONS

REMOVAL OF APPOINTEES All persons appointed to city office may be removed by the officer or body making the appointment. Every such removal shall be by written order, which shall give the reasons and be filed in the office of the City Clerk, with a copy sent by certified mail or hand delivered to the person removed. Upon written request filed with the City Clerk within thirty days of the date of mailing or serving the removal order, the person removed shall be granted a public hearing before the council on all issues connected with the removal. EMPLOYEE RESIGNATION Any employee wishing to terminate employment for any reason is encouraged to give a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice prior to the effective date of the resignation. The day an employee gives notice of resignation may be designated by the City as his/her last day of employment. Resignation notice must be in writing to your supervisor with the reason and the effective date; your supervisor will then notify the City Manager. TERMINATION An employee’s at will employment relationship may be broken and terminated as follows: a) Employee quits or retires. b) Employee is discharged. c) Engaging in other work while on leave of absence or giving false reason for a leave. d) Falsification of employment application. e) Employee misses a full day of work, without notice to Employer, except in the case of an extenuating circumstance. f) Failure to report for work at the end of leave of absence. g) Failure to report to work within five (5) days after being notified to return to work following layoff, when notice of recall is sent by certified mail to employee's last known address, according to Employer records. h) An employee is off work for any reason for three (3) months or the length of the employee’s service, whichever is shorter. i) Other violations as referenced in Work Rules and Disciplinary Action Section of this Personnel Manual j) For the convenience of the Employer. 93
