Dear Parents, Families and Friends

“Any story worth telling is worth telling twice” Rafiki, The Lion King 1 and 2

We think our version of The Lion King is a story worth telling at least three times! We have three great shows planned; beginning with a Matinee performance on Sunday 25 March and two evening performances on Tuesday 27 March and Wednesday 28 March. This year, over 100 students – cast and crew - from Year 4 to 6 have taken part in the musical showcase, The Lion King. It is an awesome experience and opportunity to be part of such a large production! It can be daunting to perform in front of others and we are very proud of the students who have taken the stage. I find it awe inspiring to know that the students and staff have pulled together a musical of this caliber in one term. It has been amazing to see the work behind the scenes, as people have rallied together to build sets and costumes; as well as to rehearse individually and as a team, choreographing dances, learning songs and bringing it together to be the fabulous show we are enjoying today! I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the students involved – backstage crew and performers – for the time you have dedicated to attending the numerous afternoon and weekend rehearsals. You can now see how your hard work and dedication has paid off! I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the staff who have coordinated various areas, putting in many additional hours over the past term. There are many people, both staff and parents, who have contributed to this year’s musical, throughout rehearsals, as well as during performance days. Without their willingness to assist, we would not be able to put on a successful production. To these people, I say a very big thank you! It is now time for us all to sit back, relax and enjoy The Lion King presented by Somerset College Junior School 2018. “Hakuna Matata.” Timon, The Lion King
