A time will come when all homes are “smart.” When the coolest new technological features are no longer cool, they’re just a part of every day life. It’s already happened with wi-fi, which used to be considered a luxury. Now, having wi-fi is about as common as owning a coffee maker – and owning a coffee maker with wi- fi isn’t all that unusual either. Here are three more smart home advancements soon to become a part of everyday life. 1. Speaking of wi-fi, a single signal is no longer enough with all the devices that now require it. With a mesh network, you get the power of dual-band wireless routers that run on both the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. Combining a mesh network with wi-fi access points placed around your home will give your signal a serious boost. 2. Some of the most important features of a smart home are the things it can do for you when you’re not there. From app-controlled thermostats that lower your home’s temperature when GPS senses you’ve left for the day, to security systems that allow you to monitor your home via your smart phone, you won’t have to worry if you forget to turn anything off again! 3. Soon, we’ll all have an artificially intelligent personal assistant. Devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home are voice-commanded and can do any number of actions for you. Planning dinner and need to add something to your grocery list? Just say it out loud. Getting dressed and want to know the day’s weather forecast? Just ask. With all of the internet’s information just a sentence away, you’ll never need to wonder “which actor was in that movie” again.
