Women’s Gold
Did you know that 16 million African women are involved in gathering and
processing shea nuts into butter? Shea butter is called Women’s Gold because
it enables women to feed, clothe, and educate their children.
What is Shea Butter?
Shea butter comes from the shea tree, which grows in the African savannah.
Women gather the shea fruit and extract the nut. The nut is then crushed and
processed to extract a beautiful creamy butter.
Our founder, Funlayo Alabi,
meeting with shea butter
producers in Ghana
Tabitha
and friends
our shea butter is directly sourced from
women-run cooperatives in damongo, northern ghana
we know the hands
that craft our butter.
