Principal activities
During the year, the principal activities of the company were in
relation to being the professional Association for the speech
pathology profession in Australia.
There have been no significant changes in the nature of these
activities during the year.
Short-term and long-term objectives
The Company’s short-term and long-term objectives are to:
• prescribe, guide and govern the clinical and ethical
standards of members in their practice of speech pathology
• facilitate and promote opportunities for members to pursue
knowledge and develop professionally
• disseminate professional positions to key stakeholder
groups including: the government, consumers, referrers
and the public
• advocate for and respond to the needs of clients with
communication and swallowing difficulties
• promote timely access to services; and
• represent the interests and views of members of the
Association.
Strategy for achieving short and long-term objectives
To achieve these objectives, the Group had adopted the
following strategies:
• be proactive representatives seeking recognition and
opportunities for our clients, the profession of speech
pathology and the Association
• have the information, knowledge and skills to be highly
informed advisers
• be viewed as the first point of contact for all matters
concerning speech pathology and difficulties in
communication and swallowing
• value our Association and promote it to others, including
government, employers and non-members.
