During both practices and games, the trainers are constantly
following the action to see if any athlete is hurt. When an injury
occurs, the trainers begin their first assessment of the player.
Later, the trainers work with a team doctor or general sports
doctor to decide if the athlete needs to see a specialist or might
require imaging, such as an X-ray or MRI.
Athletic trainers have to go where the athletes go, often working with them before and during games.
