Wear Out Phase
• Detection:
– Compare failure numbers with anticipated
numbers on annual basis.
– Inspect sample for signs of degradation
• How to handle:
– Inflate beyond nominal useful life
– Calculate prevailing PFD on ongoing basis
– Review SIF where PFDprevailing > 2 x PFDdesign
