Installed Safety Instrumented Systems
• The purpose of the guidance is to provide:
– a common framework by which SIS that are already installed and operational can be
reviewed, assessed and maintained – how they can be demonstrated to align with IEC
61511, including information on:
»
the basic management activities required, for example policy, procedures, competence
assurance and monitoring.
»
the processes required to assess if the functional safety requirements of the installed
SIS are adequate and these are met through periodic functional safety auditing and
assessment in a proportionate manner.
»
demonstrating that the requirements of the installed SIS are maintained and
performance is monitored and documented for the SIS.
