Auctioneers Brown&Co. held a machinery sale
on behalf of Scarfe Bros Ltd. at The Works
Depot, Bodham on Thursday 16th July 2015.
The opportunity to buy anything from vintage ERF
spares to a tractor unit or the yard office, brought
together a crowd of byers from across the UK. Of
principal interest on the sale field were the three
principal tractor units and their TASCC registered
bulk trailers in addition to the CTM cleaner loader
and the mint condition Manitou Loader.
The total dispersal of the contents of the yard
and workshops gave buyers the opportunity to
pick up some specialist workshop equipment
ranging from socket sets and jacks to the 30KVA
generator which provided power to the yard.
Further lots which proved to be of interest to the
buyers were a 1999 Manitou MLT 633 LST with
6,500 hrs selling at £10,400 and its partner the
CTM 920R cleaner loader at £5,750. The tractor
units consisted of a 1981 Volvo FM12 Tractor
unit with a sleeper cab with 1,010,000 km on the
clock, a further 1981 FM12 with 800,000 km
on the clock and a 1982 ERF ECX with a sleeper
cab and 1,100,000 km on the clock which sold
for £6,950, £6,900 & £3,800 respectively. The
three TASCC registered Crane Freuhauf, Wilcox &
Montracon Bulkers sold for between £3,300 &
£3,800 each.
Brown&Co. auctioneer Simon Wearmouth of the
firm’s Norwich office who was conducting the sale
commented, “The sale attracted buyers from all
over the UK with a number of lots making their
way to new homes in Surrey & Nottinghamshire.
I was very pleased with the turnout for the sale
which was timed to give buyers the opportunity to
purchase the tractor units and bulkers in advance
of harvest. Unfortunately with the current market
and pricing announced by British Sugar for next
years crop has put smaller hauliers are under
increasing financial pressure”.
