Towering completion

Nexans has completed the construction

of a 125m tower for its extra high voltage

cable plant in South Carolina. The vertical

continuous vulcanization (VCV) tower will

house the triple extrusion process.

Construction of the massive project began

on 7

January and was a non-stop 24/7

operation for 20 days. Three trucks delivered

of concrete, every hour, for the slip

pour.

Fréderic Michelland, senior corporate

executive vice president, high voltage

and underwater cables business group,

and North America and South America

areas, said: "The commitment of $85 million

toward the construction of our newest

extra high voltage plant in South Carolina

demonstrates Nexans’ position in the fast

growing North American market.”

The Tower will be the hub of the extrusion

process andpivotal for the entire operation.
