RIP VAN WINKLE

Galileo - Looking Back (Stravinsky)

A hugely talented racehorse, Rip Van Winkle is the second highest-rated

horse by Galileo behind only the great Frankel. At stud he got off to the

best possible start with his first two-year-old runners. First came a 1-2 in

the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh in June of 2014

followed by Group 1 and Group 2 successes for Dick Whittington in the

six-furlong Phoenix Stakes and the Railway Stakes. And during the 2015

season he’s had five new Group/Stakes performers.

He sires exceptionally good-looking and good-moving stock so it was no

surprise to see his first yearlings sell for up to 400,000 Guineas (to David

Redvers) and his second crop realise up to

350,000 (to Juddmonte

Farms) while at Tattersalls last December a colt foal sold to MV Magnier

for 320,000 Guineas.
