Surrey Association for Community Living.

Families with Support Workers

If you are providing your own support worker

for your child in day camp, please ensure that

the program coordinators at the facility are

informed prior to registration. If you have

any questions or concerns, please contact

for People with Special Needs

One-to-One Support

IN SUMMER DAY CAMPS

For Children with Disabilities (6-13yrs)

The City of Surrey offers one-to-one staff support for children

with disabilities to participate in Surrey Parks, Recreation & Culture

summer day camps. There is no additional fee for this service.

Children who receive support typically meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Extra support is required in school;

• Additional support or assistance is required at home for basic care;

• A physical, developmental and/or learning disability exists that affects the

safety of the participant in a program;

• The participant is currently associated with a support agency.

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN ORDER FOR A PARTICIPANT TO RECEIVE SUPPORT:

1.

Register for a maximum of two

weeks of one-to-one support

2.

Register in a Surrey Parks,

Recreation & Culture summer

day camp that

• Runs during the same week as your

one-to-one support

• Runs Monday to Friday from

9:00am-3:00pm (with the exception of

shortened weeks due to Holidays)

Registration is on a first come, first serve

basis. Each child may register for a maximum

of 2 weeks of one-to-one support in order to

provide this service to as many families as

possible.

Register for one-to-one support:

• Ensure that you register for support,

during the same week you are registered

in a camp.

Whistler

Spend 5 days in Whistler this summer and earn 75 hours of

volunteer experience. For City of Surrey Volunteers, ages 15-25.

Qualified staff will coach you in gaining valuable leadership skills

so you have a great experience assisting youth with disabilities

throughout their vacation. New participants are required to sign

up online and complete the City of Surrey volunteer application

process. Once confirmed for the program, you will be required to

attend an orientation for the program on Thursday, July 6.

Camp Youth on the Move

For Youth with Disabilities (13-18yrs) Support ratio 1:3

Youth with disabilities will enjoy daily activities and trips around the Lower Mainland, visit local

attractions, nature trails and much more.
