News from the Chebeague Island School

It seems like Memorial Day was only yesterday, but

the new school year started September 5. Summer

on Chebeague Island was fantastic but fleeting for

sure. We hope everyone was able to enjoy time with

family and friends as well as to relax and enjoy all

that Maine and Chebeague Island have to offer.

What a great place to live!

The school did some major cleaning in preparation

for the upcoming school year, along with some minor

repairing and painting. As most of you know,

the School Committee is recommending a school

renovation project for our school. A public

referendum vote is scheduled for Tuesday November

7 to allow citizens to vote on the proposed project. An

open public session will be held before then, so keep

your ears open for an announcement of the date and

time. For more information on the school renovation

specifics, please visit the school’s website at

www. chebeagueisland.net

there is lots of information

there—or call the school at 846-4162.

We hope everyone has had a chance to read a

copy of the 2016–2017 School Newsletter mailed in

August. Last year was a great year of learning for our

students, and many goals were reached. If you have

not seen the newsletter, please call the school and we

will be sure to get one to you.

In closing for this edition, we would like to let

everyone know what a pleasure it is to work at the

Chebeague Island School, teaching our youngest

citizens as they grow and learn. We cannot think of

any other school that we would rather be in: it is the

greatest! Thank you for allowing us the privilege

of working with your children. We are all looking

forward to a new and exciting school year.
