Obituary.

MR. JOHN BYERS, Solicitor, died upon the

5th November, 1925, at Belfast.

Mr. Byers served his apprenticeship with

Mr. John B. McCutcheon, Belfast ;

was

admitted

in Hilary Sittings,

1898,

and

practised at Cookstown.

MR. WILLIAM J. SHANNON, Solicitor, died

upon the 6th November, 1925, at London.

Mr. Shannon served his apprenticeship

with his father, the late Mr. George W.

Shannon, Dublin ; was admitted in Hilary

Sittings, 1881, and practised at 19 Upper

Ormond Quay, Dublin, in partnership with

Mr. John Pride and Mr. Charles \V. Russell,

under the style of W. J. Shannon & Co.

He was a member of the Council of the

Society from 1895 to 1921, and was President

of the Society during the year 1908-09.

MR. DANIEL O'C. MILEY, Solicitor, died

upon

the 6th November,

1925,

at his

residence, 8 Ailesbury Road, Dublin.

Mr. Miley served his apprenticeship with

the late Sir George Fottrell, Dublin :

was

admitted

in Trinity Sittings,

1882,

and

practised at 12 South Frederick Street,

Dublin, in partnership with Mr. V. Miley,

under the style of Miley & Miley.

MR. JOHN K. CURRIE, Solicitor, died upon

the 7th November, 1925.

Mr. Currie served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. Alexander Caruth, Ballymena ;

was admitted in Michaelmas Term, 1877, and

practised at Ballymena.

MR. RICHARD RICE, Solicitor, died

in

November, 1925.

Mr. Rice was admitted in Trinity Term,

1871, and practised at Fermoy, in partner–

ship with Mr. Edmond A. Rice, under the

style of Richard Rice & Son.

MR. THEODORE CRONHELM, Solicitor, died

upon the 28th November, 1925, at Greystones.

Mr. Cronhelm was admitted in Trinity

Sittings, 1883, and practised at 22 Bachelor's

Walk, Dublin.

MR. WILLIAM E. O'REILLY, Solicitor, died

upon the 28th November, 1925.

Mr. O'Reilly served his apprenticeship with

Mr. Edwin Lloyd, Dublin ;

was admitted in

Hilary Sittings, 1918, and practised at 67

Middle Abbey Street, Dublin.

MR. JOHN O'SULLIVAN, Solicitor, died upon

the 30th November, 1925.

Mr. O'Sullivan served his apprenticeship

with the late Mr. Ambrose Plunkett, 20

Wellington Quay, Dublin ; was admitted in

Trinity Sittings, 1896, and practised at 20

Wellington Quay, Dublin, under the style

of Ambrose Plunkett and Co.

The President.

The Council have elected Mr. Thomas

George Quirke, B.A., LL.D., R.U.I., of 15

South Frederick Street, Dublin, to be the

President of the Society for the ensuing

twelve months.

The newly-elected President obtained first

place and was awarded a gold medal at the

January Final Examination, 1891, and was

admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1891.

From

1907 to 1912 he was the Society's Professor

of Real Property, Equity, and Conveyancing.

He was elected a member of the Council in

1913, and was a Vice-President of the Society

in 1916-17.

The Viee-Presidents.

The Council have elected Mr. Laurence

Ryan, of Thurles, and Mr. James J. Lynch,

of Kells, to be the Vice-Presidents of the

Society for the ensuing twelve months.

Rules, 1925.

The Minister of Finance has made Rules

and Regulations dated 10th November, 1925,

under the Land Act, 1923.
